I actually worked up to the day before my due date... was one week overdue exactly, but my doctor said it was good for me. I enjoyed it too! Talk to your doctor, see what they say... but it couldn't hurt to work up to your due date ;) Now I had to have 2 months off after that because I had a c-section... so I was glad to work as long as I did.

That's a tricky question, as you obviously don't want to use up your maternity leave lolling around the house waiting for something to happen, nor do you want to pop the kid on your coffee break. Usually a week before your due date is good -- that gives you that last week to get ready and get yourself rested, but still leaves you with five months and three weeks of maternity leave after you give birth.
Hope all goes well.

For me I just called in the night I went into labor and told them. This was because I had a job where I sat at a desk all day, meaning I would get more rest at work instead of running around the house to get ready for a baby.

I would say if you have any complications, or a job that requires heavy lifting you should go on leave earlier.

Good Luck!

I took off from work when my doctor said I should. I wasn't due until Jan. 6th went on Maternity Leave on December 9th and had the baby December 24th. I would say 2weeks to a month depending on how you feel.

I would think it depends on what you do for a living. Does your job involving lifting or putting yourself in dangerous situations? I worked on the ambulance and when I started to have problems lifting the stretcher, I made them pull me off the truck and put me into dispatch. After about 6 weeks of that, I went into pre term labor and had to stay at home anyway. So, I would say work until you get uncomfortable or until it becomes dangerous.

My husband's cousin just had her baby 2 days ago, her last day of work was a last monday. Guess it depends on how you feel and what your job gives you for maternity leave. I would talk with your HR manager.

I would take it once labor has started. With me I went into work on a Monday had my son very early Tuesday and of course didn't go in. But it's up to you and how you feel about it. But if you take it too early, then you won't have any time to bond with the baby. Well not any, but it won't be as much.

during the last 2 months of the pregnacy and the first 3 months after the birth of the baby. is the best time.

I would say 6 weeks before your due date. It makes sense, it will give you some time to relax before baby is due, some time to get last minute things for baby too and just in case you go into labor early as well, just my opinion

At my company, you take off the week you are supposed to have the baby. If you don't have the baby on your due date, your doctor will induce.

They give us a few days before the event to rest and get our energy up.

I would say that making the last week before your due date your last week would be appropriate, and your boss will understand.
