I have a ball python, and I was considering buying another. But is it alright to store both of them in the same 40 gal tank?

Why can't you people research before you buy animals?

Two snakes should never be housed together except during breeding. They are solitary animals in the wild and get extremely stressed when forced to live together. If you think your snakes are fine together, you're not experienced enough to know how to spot when they're upset.

To the person who keeps 10 snakes in one tank, I consider that cruelty. If you can't afford to give each animal the optimal housing for its needs - which is a cage to ITSELF - then you shouldn't have the animals in the first place.

Two adult ball pythons can be housed in your 40 gallon tank as long as they are fed separately. It doesn't really matter about whether they are the same sex or not - unless you want babies. Two females will live happily together and two males will probably live happily together, unless you keep a female in the same room. In that case, the males may compete over her.

first of all a 40 gallon is much to large pythons dont like large tanks. they dont need that much room to move around they only get 4-6 feet long. yes its ok to store them in there if thats the tank u choose to stick with, but i recommend seperating at feeding and other then that just pay close watch to them but i know a few people who have theres together as long as there both around the same size ok

yes you can house your pythons together as long as you feed them in a separate container ... we house our same species of snakes together ,,, also have had a boa and python together b4 and a 40gallon tank is great for them it gives their space as well if they need it we have 2 burm's together in a 300 gallon en-closer and they live fine together and our boa's we had are together and also our ball's we have are together and the all live a happy and healthy... it's fine as long as u feed them separate ...yes they r solitaire reptiles but they will go in the same den in the wild too sometimes not just during breeding season.. so i don't see why ppl say they cant live together... breeders just choose to keep them separate for more convince do to feeding...times
