Seriously, I would like to know how much our society and culture affects men's choices in partners. Is our idea of beauty flexible, or is it a genetically programmed preference?

For me - Redheaded gals make me look every time. I'm old n' ugly so none of them are looking at me. They are folks like me and I like that. Tis nice to get a smile form the sound the ol' fife and bag. I like listening to that style music from time to time. It's nice to have someone that shares in your kind of music. I'd go flipping nuts if I had to listen to County Western all the time.
They have to be able to fit comfortably on the back of my motorcycle. I pack my ol' Lady. If she ain't riding, she ain't going and that wouldn’t last a bit. I think you might want to have similar interests?
I know what I like, because I know what I like. Society has nothing to do with what I like or don't like. I have no Role Models. Beavis & Butthead, maybe? Ren & Stimpy were cool too. I hate cold weather with a passion. I love most everything with **** or wheels. I hate to be lied to. I love a mate that likes to look good for me, and I for her.
Culture! I don't need no stinking Culture! Yuck! Is that Art? I like art. I’m not scared to walk into a museum. I’m not going to a ballet. Forget it.
Who do you listen to? I listen to me. I give pretty good advise to myself most of the time. I may listen to Larry, Moe, and Curly Joe in the Whitehouse but know it's all a great big smoke screen. Us little people will never know what is really going on. It's entertainment. All you get over the TV and Radio is ENTERTAINMENT. Don't let it mess with your mind. I guess a little common sense is a nice thing in a mate? Trust should be a necessity. I trust E-mails and Hate Mail won’t bombard me for posting my opinion. I'd hate to end up like the Dixie Chicks.
Being a Redhead isn’t a shoe in guarantee to qualify for being attracted to someone and wanting to rattle bones all the time. I fell slap in love with an Italian gal one time but nothing came of it. Sexy to me would make someone else wonder what my problem is.
Sexy would be red hair. Blue, green, or gray eyes are best. Freckles are quite nice. Fit and healthy enough to keep up with me would be different and desirable. There you have it. All the rest is icing on the cake. Bone rattling. Did I mention bone rattling?

Men find different things sexy. It really depends on the guy.
I find different things sexy in a woman. I find it sexy when a woman is really nice, honest, down-to-earth, and easy-going..for nonphysical traits. As far as physical traits go, I find it sexy when a woman has good personal hygeine, smells nice, dresses modestly, but still sexy, like a little hint of cleavage or some nice pants that show the curves of her body.
Our society and culture has definetely affected men's preferences toward women due to beauty ads, billboards, movies, etc.

This is a huge question you're asking. I mean, you could dot point answers, but when you ask Why society and culture affects our preferences, you're asking something entirely different.
Different men are attracted to different things. Being honest, it's not always easy to like a girl if she doesn't look good. She doesn't have to be model-slim, but it's nice if she has a figure. Pretty hair, plain but pretty, works for me, but... Ehh, I'm not really the type to answer this question. To be honest I'm socially awkward around girls- I don't flirt, unless I know them first. I'm more of the type to analyse why everyone else says the things they do. Personally I try and look beyond a person's outward appearance, but honestly, it's not always easy.
Number one rule. A nice smile. A good smile can make an ugly person look less ugly, an average person look beautiful, and a good looking person look spectacular. The smile, and the eyes, are what count.

There many things that men find sexy in women.
For me, the eyes, her smile, how she carries herself, posture, laugh, walk, dress, or even how she sits in a chair can be incredibly sexy.
I find redheads and brunettes sexier than others. Size is not a factor for me. I've dated several different types of women. My first wife was an exotic dancer and my second wife was a business executive. Incidentally, both of my ex-wives were redheads. The first was more of a strawberry red and the second was a deep auburn. I've dated women with all cup sizes, from A to HHH. You can figure out who had the triple H. Actually, I have been finding out lately that I'm more attracted to the voluptuous type of female.
Non-realistic women are a big turn-off for me. As well as those that do not bathe regular or even those that wear too much perfume and make-up. Brassy or rude women are a big no-no in my book.
Independent women are attractive to me as well. Mainly, because they don't need a man to take care of them. Gold-diggers, I can detect from a mile away. But, the tom-boy type, I like.

I find the most sexy thing about a woman is a bright mind. I like her to look directly at me when we speak, Good posture, speak her mind.
I don't think our society or culture has had an effect on how I feel, because most men look for the physical more.
The mind is the real sex organ and the better it works, the better the sex:)

It starts with the physical. Sight is what turns a man on. Nice hair, nice legs, nice face, nice boobs, nice rear, anything visual will turn a guy on. Whatever your best feature is, highlight it with a smile. Men are visual creatures so always look your best.

I find sexy a young man in shorts with a great body it doesnt matter if he does not have a pretty nice face... and ladies look very sexy with stright hair, thick lips, with angelina joly traits
