I will make the presentation initially in Flash 8 and then convert it to video, I have figured out the process but I am concerned about the aspect ratio, what size (in pixels) should I use in flash, so my picture won't get distorted when playing on TV?

It depends on what version of DVD you will be making. Broadcast Television in the US is NTSC. This means 740 x 480 pixels. However there is a 'safe area' that you need to pay attention to. Use about a 80 to 100 pixel "border" to contain your content. Otherwise TV's that are CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) might crop off objects that appear close to your border in the Flash movie. If you are targeting HD displays, use 1440x1080 pixels

I don't know anything about Flash development, but let me just say you have a very handsome avatar. :)
