however, the "start" of the War was actually political in nature....

Lincoln could have abandoned the fort and averted Civil War...He refused to.

Lincoln. Read real history and you would understand it. Short story though was he said he was sending supplies to Fort Sumter and if the Gov let them alone then everything would be fine otherwise there were troops being sent and would attack. HE made the first threat of war. Yeah they took the Forts BUT without shooting. They simply declared them to be on their land so they were theirs. They were letting the troops LEAVE Fort Sumter but the troops wouldn't so they were going to starve them out basically. The other thing is Lincoln didn't acknowledge that the CSA was a seperate country with it's own President so he went to the Gov which further insulted the Gov and the CSA. As this threat of war was taken by the CSA they fired on Fort Sumter in the first shots of war.
