Gash,, Gash sounds as though it is actually what it is. Slit could be looked at small or large.

Slit. It just makes me think of someone sneaking up behind another person and swiping at their throat with a knife. Gash makes me think of a serious wound that won't stop bleeding, like from a battle.

I guess a Slit sounds better to eat. A Gash is a deep wound and
can be quite bloody.

If I were going for the throat it would be Slit, but if I just wanted to spill some blood and gutts it would be Gash...
