No, the government will forward any refunds to the local child support agency who handles your case. There is no way you can stop this. It doesn't matter how many of your other children you have living with you, the fifth child must be cared for, too. Look at it as a way to get the arrears caught up more quickly and continue to pay on time every month. If you dispute the amount you will have to go back to court and ask for a change in the child support order. It will be up to a judge to decide whether to grant the request or not.

No. Once the government steps in you are screwed. If you would have paid your child support you wouldn't have the claim against your tax refund.

I am glad that they are holding your nuts to the fire on this one. Maybe one day you will find out how to wear condoms! One thing is sure, it's alot easier to pay for condoms than child support!

It sucks to be you dude!

If the support is owed then it can't be stopped unless the mother or father has the claim stopped. When my Daughter got married I had to have the child support claim stopped..But my ex had to pay what was owed before she got married...

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about income tax. Since you have arrears they will take whatever money you are intitled to from the IRS. Have you called your child support specialist and ask them if they are going to report you? Maybe you can make some type arrangement with them. Good Luck!

pay it on time thru the court so it is tracked. You may be hurting for money, but what about the mother of your child who is raising the other.

in case you owe greater in back baby help than your predicted refund, particular. The financial administration provider (a bureau of the dept of Treasury) will take your refund and use it to offset back baby help.
