i'm in the UK, we have an equally mucked-up, directionless party in power and no viable opposition.
i think ur just a normal person, exasperated with spaff politicians that bander 2 whatever they think will win/gain votes.
our NHS is disintegrating b4 our eyes and no-one really seems 2 care.
u r a free thinker that refuses 2 b pigeon-holed.
many more like u and the politicians may have no choice but sit up and listen.

SO what if you are mostly republican but like some aspects of the democratic party. There is such a term as democratic republican... Only if this were a party! I think they'd get the majority of votes, from both sides, and the people... well everybody is happy... most of the time... I actually believe in 10 percent taxes... why pay uncle Sam more than God? But I like the roads that were always well kept with democratic influence... so... there...

You are middle class. You want the government to benefit you. It is a benefit to you to deny the right to choose abortion to others, it is a benefit to you to deny the rights of marriage to same gender couples, it is a benefit to you to have everyone taxed to pay for the wars you agree with, it is a benefit to you to have medicare/aid, a minimum wage, a guaranteed pension....
It has nothing to do with Republican or Democrat, so far. If you think that the government should benefit everybody without any discrimination, and should tax and spend, instead of the current borrow and spend, and if you can get yours without begrudging others for what they get, then you may be a Democrat. If you think that the government should go away and leave things to the "free market forces," and people should "take responsibility" for their own health care, their own retirement plans, their own wages, etc., and the government should stop regulating business and give it carte blanc, you are a Republican.

Don't be so quick to try to label yourself either. Chose Independent and vote for a candidate that you think best represents your beliefs. Over time you might find yourself favoring one or the other. While everyone focuses on the parties the real issues that people care about get overlooked or glossed over. Issues count, party association is less important.
