Not so much crime but the way America deals with it. Our court system is a mess a person waits in jail for possiably years on end even though our Consitution gareuntees a speedy trial. The Capital Punishment system isn't too great either, with appeals process. Our prisons are over crowded allowing people to get out on "good behavior" I am ranting and I'll stop now.

That is such a broad question. We have a lot of crime because we have a lot of stuff and a lot of people. We also have a lot of news coverage, so we get a lot of reporting on our crime. In the rest of the world, people are killing each other at an alarming rate. However, since they do not have anything that the developed world is interested in, they do not get the news coverage.

In some parts of the country it is. But as a whole, no. The media portrays all the negatives in the country because violence sells. Crime rates can't get any closer to zero in most parts of the country.

I believe the media makes it to be worse than it really is, but thats not to say it is not bad. I believe the media is pushing for more surveillance. RFID chips implanted in your body and camera's on every street corner.
