In all types of drug stores and more expensive makeup stores they do sell spray that you can saturate the brushes with but my mom taught me two other methods. You can either use a baby shampoo or a mild liquid handsoap and pump a small amount into the bristles and massage it until it is nice and soapy. You rinse wih warm water which kills the bacteria and then you lay the wet brushes on a paper towel with the bristles spread out to let it dry. I hope this has helped you with the cleansiing of your makeup brushes.

If you use your brushes every day, you should cleanse them at least twice a month using a liquid antibacterial soap such as dial. Gently cleanse them by squeezing instead of rubbing until water runs clear. Try not to get the ferrules or handles wet. Reshape and lay flat to dry. You can also use any conditioner after cleansing them to keep them soft. A nice set of 'real hair' makeup brushes can last up to 10 years when taken care of this way.

Actually it's very easy to clean them at home and you don't really need a special cleanser for those (I would rather spend the money on something else), check out here, I have copied Cindy Crawford's tips on cleansing the brushes: http://www.blogcharm.com/beautytricks/49577/Makeup+Brushes+Cleansing.html

Warm water and a gentle shampoo. I use L'Oreal Color Vive anyway, so I use it. It cleans the brushes thoroughly for very little money.
