Being a nurse is a very great career, the pay is good and the opportunities are endless. If I could go back in time, I would have chosen nursing as my major. I have a best friend who is a nurse and she loves it. She works with premature babies.

It's very hard to get into nursing school, so the more you study and make good grades, the better off you will be in getting into a great nursing school.

Nursing is very flexible and has many paths. I wish you the best and keep researching on the internet, there is huge shortage of nurses in the US and they are always hiring.

I found nursing to be a very fullfilling career. I knew i wanted to be a nurse from the age of 5 or 6, so when I was able to get the RN lisence it was my dream fullfilled. I preferred actual bedside nursing and working directly with patients rather than supervisory roles. There are several areas of nursing that deals with infants. From labor and delivery, newborn nursery, neonatal icu for premies, pediatrics for older children, or specialty areas for children with cancer. The most important thing to remember when working with sick children---don't get emotionally involved. If you get emotionally involved with your patients you can't function in an emergency involving them. The term is detachment-give 100% to each patient while providing care but take 100% of yourself when you go to the next patient. Leaving little bits of yourself with each patient soon leaves you with nothing to give and results in burn out. When you leave the job at the end of your shift-leave the patients at the hospital. Taking the job home with you is a sure way to burn out early.
