Adverbs usually end in "ly," as in sleepily, lazily, soulfully, etc. Also, adverbs describe adjectives or verbs. An adjective is a word that describes a noun. For example:

The brown dog slept.

"Brown" describes the dog, so "brown" is an adjective. Here's an example of an adverb:

The brown dog slept peacefully.

"Peacefully" describes how the dog slept. "Peacefully" doesn't describe the dog. If you wanted to turn "peacefully" into an adjective, the sentence would look like this:

The peaceful brown dog slept.

Remember, adverbs usually end in "-ly" (like "usually" just did), and they describe adjectives and verbs.
