You say Good Morning, or Morning in the morning and Good Afternoon or Afternoon in the afternoon. From about 6pm onwards you would say Good Evening. All of those are greetings.

Good night is a farewell at the end of a conversation or meeting, but only after dark.....

If in doubt, stick to "hello" with a nice smile...
