In the old wives tale under 140 is a boy and above 140 is a girl. So with your heartbeat at 160+ it should be a girl according to the old wives tale. My mother in law believes very heavily in this one and swears that I'm having a girl because the heartbeat has never been below 168 and I'm 19 weeks.

ive heard people say some of the opposite about the weight thing i heard witha boy you are all belly... anyways, there are some things i really beleive. i have a little girl and im pregnant with a boy- with my daughter i really really wanted sweets like you said. also, i really believe this---- with my daughter her heartbeat was really high, like 160 and above every time. this time his heartbeat has always been 140-152. with this one (boy) i didnt want ANY sweets in the beggining. none. sweets made me sick!!!! also, every one is different, but i had morning sickness with both girl and boy. whatever you do dont believe the chinese gender chart. everyone will say to try it but it said my daughter would be a boy and my son would be a girl. you can also do the string test that worked for me everytime! it is so weird! have you heard of that? ill check back and if you dont know how it works i will tell ya. congrats!

The popular myth is that under 140 bpm is a male, and over 140 bpm is a female. The truth of it, however, is that the heartbeat begins quite fast and then eventually slows. It seems like the heart-rate system is accurate because so many people say it came out correct, but when you think about it, they had a 50/50 chance. Most of it's dumb luck. :)

They claim a higher heart beat is a girl. But like you said that usually is a wives tale. But in actuality my daughter did have a higher heart beat than my son. Good Luck and just hope the baby is healthy boy or girl.

I've heard this before and even had a nurse tell me yeah it's a girl just by listening to the heartbeat. I don't know how true it is but my daughters was over 140. Then you have those who say their son was over 140 so don't go by that, just wait until you have the baby.
