All things Christmasy should be done AFTER Thanksgiving. Decorations, cards etc. Anytime before is too soon.

No, no, no, not right after Halloween!
I think you can send Christmas cards anytime after December 1. If you're sending them way far, say to someone in the military overseas, you might send them around Thanksgiving time.
