I am a proud American who thanks God everyday for my freedom. I see alot of questions posted on here which are a direct or an indirect attack against America, and I cannot see their logic.

Jealousy. What people don't have they want. We are the greatest nation of all and they want it or they don't want us to have it. Nations are just like people and they like to see the powerful fall.

I think the US is every ones favorite whipping boy because the are the most powerful nation at the moment and exert that power both militarily and economicaly way past there own borders in a neo-colonial way.
One hundred years ago it was the British who were despised world wide for the same reasons.
Also the US seems to have the most unwieldy and complex democratic system of any of the modern democracy's and also seems to have a very poor welfare system and lacks the social and racial cohesion of other western democracys.
The internal violence of US history also scares a lot of people and gives the impression of a nation of cowboys and gangsters.

Because we are seen as a military force who causes destruction to people's homes and the places they work at.

No matter what political party one may believe in, is it out of line to think Iraqi families may be angry once 2 months of garbage not taken away, and has led to rats in the kitchen? Maybe the daily act of using the bathroom, which is now being done behind the house, in front of neighbors, just might be taking their dignity to a new low?

Never mind that going to work can get you killed. And what about sending kids off to school? We worry if they'll eat or trade the dessert that was packed in their lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Average Iraqi hope the kids pass the check points and come back alive.

How well are you sleeping tonight?

Pride is one of the seven deadly sins. Great for clouding vision. I don't know about trashing America, but I can't call a thing right when it is plainly wrong. And on so massive a scale. Oh, do tell me, the little picture off to the side; is that Cesare Borgia or Vlad the Impaler? Bears a striking resemblance to either.

and like Thomas Jefferson I'm a proud American born on the 4th of July but...

1. We continue to allow the dinosaur oil industry to run the country instead of doing smart things like solar and wind and hybrid...

2. We continue to pour billions of dollars into war and war related industries and killing innocent women and children...

3. We continue to pretend that it's not OUR emissions that is causing global warming...

4. We continue to pretend that Democrats and Republicans represent we the people....when we the people have not added ONE representative to the House of Representatives for over a hundred years while our population has tripled....

5. We are so smart we can only focus on our own navel, and the rest of the world be damned...all of the EU nations have more of a world view than we do...

6. Pot is legal in most of Europe, and for instance in Spain any individual can grow 5 pot plants ..in America we pretend that marijuana is an evil weed.....

7. Are we so stupid that allowing politics and fundamentalist religion to mix is the very thing the English settlers were trying to flee themselves???

I can't handle any more myself.....

Because you think that you can set the standards for the rest of the world, when we are all FAR better off without you imposing your capitalist, self centred, self rightous views on the way we should live.

In NZ we are NUCLEAR FREE, we don't give a rats **** about plastic surgery, we don't care about hollywood actors and we all live about 5 km's away from a beach. You have the highest rates of unemployment, child abuse, poverty, single parents, murder etc in all 'developed' countries. And you have people like Paris Hilton and Nicole Ritchie as flagstaff's for your nation's youth!

And you are arrogant as tourists, loud and obnoxious as a people, and you make NO attempt to assimilate yourselves when visiting other countries - oh, that's the staggering 8% of you that actually own a passport.

the world is tired of the world policing tactics of the USA and they are all coming together and voicing it much louder than they have before (they've always thought it).... America has chosen to use its super power status is p*ss every one off, and now everyone is vocally expressing their anger. Plus the sheer lack of knowledge of any other country but your own sh*ts every one as well especially when Americans start mouthing off about being the "only" country with freedom and democracy

Maybe its because of the arrogance & ignorance of a segment of Americans that think the world revolves around the US and that they are better then everyone, let alone the concept of your sports (World Series Baseball! Who plays in the World series?)

Then you have America's over the top pride and commercialisation.

The ignorance extends to any matter not involving the US in someway, shape or form.

Further you think you are the only nation on earth that gives aid to other nations. Lets not forget that you have a bad attitude to firearms & hence give gun owners the world a bad name.

Well Vlad, speaking as a proud American I can honestly say other nations see us as weak because we take our liberties for granted and we allow ourselves to be stepped on because of political correctness. People are afraid to really speak up for their rights for the fear of being sued for stepping on someone else's rights. And around and around it goes. Because of this, we all look like dumbasses walking around half blind in the dark, bumping into each other and asking for forgiveness when someone slaps you on purpose. We are not a cohesive unit because we have too many freedoms, according to other nations. We take it for granted that in wartime we have a choice as to whether we fight or decide to simply stay home and watch the show. Other nations do not have that ability as most are required to serve in the military at some point for a specific amount of time. In fact, I believe in Israel even the women have to serve. That makes them less ready to jump into conflict as their feelings dictate because they do not want to die. Here we go to war against each other daily because someone hurt our poor little American feelings. We had best shape up as a nation because we are going to let our freedoms dissolve the very country our forefathers fought to build.

The U.S. government acts like a bully most of the time. Things like telling other countries what their government should be like and who should be in charge of it, all in the name of democracy no less.
Or putting stringent conditions on aid which limit countries abilities to protect their people and their resources from exploitation by U.S. corporations. Trying to bully the EU into accepting genetically-modified foods or chemicals which have been proven harmful.

U.S. Americans are quite certain that they are free. The rest of the world sees the blinders that you live with. We tell you they are there and you accuse us of attacking your country.

Shall I continue?

A lot of people from various countries around the world dislike the US because it is not a good neighbor. The US throws its weight around a lot, imposing on some countries and breathing down the necks of others. Some Americans like this sort of thing, but other people do not.
