If you mean a geode or a thunder egg, just type in geode on eBay and a ton of them will come up.

Different geodes and thunder eggs have different types of minerals inside of them. Mexican Coconut geodes come in small to large sizes and usually have large quartz crystals inside of them which are typically white, smokey, purple (amethyst) or orange/purple (amatrine).

Keokuk geodes often have a fine dusting of small calcie crystals in them. When crystals are small enough to give a glittering effect, the mineral is said to be druzy.

Some geodes or thunder eggs just have a chalcedony coating inside of them an no crystals. This is common in Keokuk geodes.

Celestite geodes have baby blue celestite crystals in them and are usually very prized. Another very priced species are Baker Ranch thundereggs. They often have elaborate bands of pinkish and red agate as well as quartz. Some of these, and other geodes have been filled in all the way and are called nodules. They are typically polished and made into book ends in they're large enough, or sliced and polished and used in other crafts.

A similar formation are cathedrals. Cathedrals come from Brazil and look like staligmites that are hollow and are lined with crystals inside. These are very expensive and range in size from about that of a pumpkin to over 6ft tall. They are almost always lined with amethyst or citrine, which is an orange variety of quartz.

On the west side of wolf creek pass CO, about a 1/2 mile east of the roadside park on the South side of the road in the cliff face. A good location to find Geodes. Is that specific enough or would you like UTM or Latitude and Logitude co-ordinates?

I found a few when I worked down the mine, you would split a rock which had been a blob of lava which landed in water and there was sometimes crystals in the centre.

I believe you're talking about a geode. Volcanic ash beds and limestone may have geodes.
