Erebus is part of Hades, or the underworld. It is the first part of the underworld that the dead must pass through. It is also called Darkness.

Erebus is the son of Chaos and the brother of Nyx(night) Both he ans she rule the darkness and different parts of Hades. They had three kids. The part of Hades governed by Erebus is the first part of the Underworld, the Shadow land.
