I am an expert i work at the m.a.c counter at the mall. first put on foundation but dont go over your lips, eyebrows, or eyelashes as it makes them clump. then put on eyeshadow BEFORE mascara because it sticks if you apply it afterwards. next put on mascara to your top and bottom for fullness. then add lipliner lipstick and a clear gloss to the outside

Go to a large department store makeup counter and ask for a free makeover. Because the ladies there are not only trained as makeup artists, but are trying to sell you makeup, they will show you how to put the make up on and help you choose products appropriate for you. Don't purchase too much at first though! Tell them you would like to wear the makeup for a few hours before purchasing to see how well your skin does with it. Let a good friend come with you to give some input.

The art of makeup takes a lot of practice. Very few women are good at it right off the bat. Just keep trying. Take your time as you are doing it so the eyeliner goes in a straight line and you don't get your mascara everywhere. Try to use the eyeshadow lightly because so many girls just overdo it. Also don't use crazy colors like bright blue unless you want to look like a clown =( Hope this helps!

Ok the best thing to do is go to the mall, get into a Macy's or a Neiman Marcus. Go to a BeneFit Counter or a Clinique counter. Please don't go fopr the trashy MAC counter. Ask them what would work best on you. They will do your whole face for free. Then what you like, BUY. It's rude to have them do your whole face and not buy anything. Or at least tip them. What I suggest buying is something called Big Beautiful Eyes from Benefit. It's a neutral colored eyeshadow kit that comes with all the brushes you would need and a step by step guide on how to apply it. What I like about it is that even if you're feeling lazy it goes on great it you follow the basic guidelines in the Guide.

A lot of make-up application is about the brushes you use to apply it. If you use crappy brushes then the result will be crappy too.
For good make-up you should always have a foundation brush and two good eyeshadow brushes, one of these should be a blender.
You should get some beauty magazines for tips on how to apply decent make-up, a lot of them will go in to detail. Like anything practice takes perfect, the more you work on it the easier it will become. Having said that, maybe try avoiding practice runs and then going out in public! Some things, such as applying eyeliner, take forever to get right!
Start out by trying out a basic everyday look, very light and natural. As you get more used to it you could try dramatise it a little more, depending on your taste.
Good luck!

Listen hon, putting on makeup is like putting on a new skin for yourself. You take your time and make sure that you are not using things that make you look like well just imagine your grandmother and what her makeup looks like now!!! YUK!! sometimes you are beautiful enough that all you need is some lip gloss or Nada. Like who you are without makeup first then experiment a little at a time later

It all depends on what you say you suck at...but really, you only need a little bit of makeup to make yourself look the best. Too much makeup makes you look fake and like you're trying too hard.
If you're trying to cover up pimples or irritation, try a tinted blemish pen, like the Revlon Blemish Concealer pen. This works great, and comes in a few different colors to match your skin.
For your eyes, a little mascara on your lashes, only one or two coats, too much will clump your lashes and make them look "tarantula-like". And a little brown shadow brushed along the creases of your eyes and the outer corners.
A little lip gloss added to your lips, and voila....instant glamour. All in five minutes or less...
A natural look is always the sexiest.

You can go to most major hair salons or spas and get a Makeup session with one of the employees there. They tell you what kind of makeup is good for your skin, hair, eye tones. They tell you how to apply makeup correctly so you can learn.
Go to JCPenny's, Mario Triccoci, Aveda salons, etc.

well don't feel bad b/c you aren't the only one. i don't wear make-up often so i wasn't good at it either. i just sat down and took the time a couple nights straight and just tried new things to see how they worked out. eventually you'll get the hang of putting it on and once you do then change up styles a little bit.
