That is a question that I have often struggled with myself. My personal preference is to always match my gown. If you are wearing accent pieces or accessories, such as a stole, wrap, or scarf, you may choose to use that color to pull it all together.

BTW, a gold gown is wowser!!! Great choice! Have fun and take lotsa pics!

If it's a long gown (ankle length), steer clear of the gold shoes!! If it is a long gown, I would wear delicate black heels. If it's a short gown, you might be able to get away with gold shoes. In any case, if you are wearing gold shoes, be very careful, as many times it might look too matched! Also, generally, women match their shoes and their purse. A pair of black shoes will go nicely with a black purse. A pair of gold shoes and a gold purse? You really need to be able to pull that off!

Gold? With a gold gown and gold shoes you will be matching and you want some diversity. Black, white or brown are always good choices. If you want something more funky try red or purple and accessorize with other funky items to not make it clash so much.
