The Dream
I lay in bed staring through the darkness,
Wondering what thoughts stay hidden in the corners of my mind.
Shadows dance on the walls and ceiling,
And I close my eyes trying to remember.
When I close my eyes it's nothing but darkness,
Likes the darkness that surrounds me now.
In my mind I'm running in circles,
Trying to find my way out into the light.
My heart beats faster with each step I take,
And I'm about to fall when my eyes open.
I sit up straight as I place a hand on my cheek,
And I feel a tear rolling down it.
I sit there for a minute taking it all in,
As I realize it was just a dream.
