Hi
I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water (almost to the boiling point) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet). If the stain is still visible than use a little carpet spotter on it or Dawn dishwashing liquid (2 or 3 drops into one cup of water) and repeat step 1. The stain may come back in a few days so you may have to do this a few times. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. At this point if the stain is still there please call a carpet cleaner.

The black stuff is carbon and removing it will depend on your carpets pile. It'll be difficult on a short pile but it is possible. First remove as much of the wax spill as possible by hand - scrape with a dull knife if you have to. When the majority of the wax residue is gone then pour a small amount of boiling water onto the spot (use a towel under the carpet if possible to keep the water from spreading too far) and blot it with a clean cloth. When you have removed as much as humanly possible and there is still a bit of black then you may want to use a shot of upholstery cleaner (not quite enough to bleach the carpet). If you have longer pile then you may be able to cut the one or two black threads out once you have cleaned off all the dry wax.

Good luck - and if all else fails - rearrange the furniture!

well if it is candle wax all you need to do to get it out of your carpet is get a paperbag and place it over the wax and then use an iron on top of the paperbag and the wax will come out of the carpet and on to the paper bag
