you can safely enjoy eating them as part of a healthful diet. You can safely eat 12 ounces per week of cooked fish. A typical serving size of fish is from 3 to 6 ounces. Of course, if your serving sizes are smaller, you can eat fish more frequently. You can choose salmon, canned fish.

You can protect your unborn child by not eating these large fish that can contain high levels of methylmercury:

Shark
Swordfish
King mackerel
Tilefish

I've never heard that seafood could put a woman into labor, but pregnant & lactating women shouldn't eat seafood. This is because all seafood, regardless of the source, contains methylmercury.

They say that pregnant women "shouldn't" eat seafood... at least in large amounts. Also, I think that they "point the finger" at Tuna. The reason is that seafood contains mercury, especially Tuna. It's okay to eat it, just NOT in large amounts. It could 'cause damage to your baby. This is what I've always been told.

It's bad because certain seafood have high amounts of mercury and it could be harmful to the baby. You can eat seafood, but only certain types. Make sure that when you do eat seafood that it's thoroughly cooked.

I haven't heard it puts women into labor but you aren't supposed to eat shell fish because of the bacteria in it. It could be harmful to the baby.

Only certain things like some Tuna has high Mercury, and some Shark too. Swordfish is also bad while pregnant. As long as their arent high levels of Mercury in it , its fine. Look it up online and it will tell you exactly which has mercury.
