Just because it is a one of the many options that Yahoo providers its customers does not mean that it is an option that everyone has to use. Although I agree that having a picture or an avatar next to your name or in your Yahoo! profile has the potential of contributing to your on-line personality and depicting the type of person that you are in reality I disagree with the statement that not having either subtracts from your personality.
There is more that I would like to say concerning this subject, but I have deemed that the above was the most important - second to what BH says about it not always being the safest or the wisest thing that any individual under the age of 18 can do.

My pic depitcs me quite well because it IS me...kids I wouldn't recommend posting a real photo...adults, is another story...
Only post nothing if you also walk around offline with a bag over your head...otherwise, show yerself...

some people on here are either to young,or dumb,to have a personality,or a lot of people simply never have one of their own. i have noticed a lot of them copied my aveater. i going to change it to something that can't be copied by them soon.
