If we were totally aware of death, then we wouldn't be afraid of it. I say it is better to live in ignorance of it because it serves as the ultimate human mystery. The mystery of death gives us purpose in the universe. It certifies our humanity. Humans have always pursued knowing the unknown. If we figure out the ultimate mystery, then we have no purpose and nothing to pursue. We would stop pursuing anything that will make our lives better such as love, passion, science, religion, and technology because life is meaningless after knowing the meaning of life. The meaning of life is attained after one figures out the truth of death.

I would rather be totally aware, still, living your life regretting you're one second closer to your death, every second that passes, is an enormous stupidity.

Then again, YOUR death is not the problem... everyone feels afraid of dying, and those who deny it may be the most afraid. But I think the worst part of death is the death of others... there's the real pain. The dead one has just stopped suffering -whatever your creed, religion or absence of it: life is over-, the survivor is the one that suffers the loss.

On the other hand, I think ignorance of death leads to an unknown form of suffering to the survivors and that, methinks, is worse than death itself.

I would rather live totally aware of death because then you wouldn't take life for granted and you would figure out how to make it through a long life. Unlike if you were not aware of it, you may do something that could end your life or someone else's very quick

I would rather be aware of anything than live in ignorance. In this particular case I think that awareness & acceptence of something that is ultimately just another part of the cycle of life helps to diminish the irrational fear we associate with death. Ignorance is never bliss.

It is my opinion that since there is no such thing as DEATH that we should be AWARE of the THREE STAGES of the what we will call the "After Life." If you want the correct INFORMATION concerning this matter there is a BOOK called, "A Final Conversation with GOD in a LIFE THAT NEVER ENDS" by Neale Donald Walsh. Everything is explained in that BOOK by GOD the Alpha/Omega, GOD the Unmoved/Mover,GOD the Almighty. It matters not to me whether you desire the INFORMATION or NOT, I am just giving you a DIFFERENT way of FINDING IT.

Accept it, but don't dwell on it. I've found as I've gotten older death doesn't seem so scary anymore. It isn't something I want to happen right away, but to actually live forever would get boring after a few billion millenia. Now I see it as a release from all the trials and tribulations of life. Someday you will too.

Total awareness is my take on it as the awareness of death creates the sweetness of being able to live, to dream, to achieve.

Pros and cons to both...personally i say be aware of it. Being totally ignorant of death is equivilant to denying it and if you deny the fact that you will someday die, then you probably won't have the same outlook on life and your days will be wasted because you don't realize that you don't have forever... I think we should accept the fact that we will someday die and live each day as if we had to face death tomorrrow, that way there are no regrets. = )

Every religion says there is no death. You know in your gut that you will continue after you drop your body. So you can live in "ignorance" by "ignoring" death, but still be totally aware that you will not reamin in the same form as you are now. I love dichotomy!

Well you cannot think of something like that all the time otherwise you won't be able to live. Being aware is a differnt thing like making a living will or trust. When you die you die...what can you do?
