1. "The Exorcist"- There's a scene where the possessed girl does things to a crucifix (you can watch it to see what she's doing if you don't know), and things are flying around the room when the mother comes in. The door slams shut and she turns her head all the way around! I've seen it tons of times, and it still creeps me out. Of course the whole movie does.
2. "The Sixth Sense"- OK, maybe this isn't the scariest, but the first tim I saw the ending, I had chills all over.
3. "The Grudge"- When that damn woman comes creeping up the bedsheets making that weird groaning sound!

The Bravo Channel on cable did a countdown of this very question at Halloween time - their #1 was Jaws, the opening scene when the young girl skinny dipping gets attacked. I don't remember the others - but a scene that scared the crap out of me is when the beautician opened her robe to her would-be lover to expose her actual male body in "The Crying Game"

in time-honored, I don’t watch many frightening video clips because of the fact i'm no longer possibly entertained by utilising the considered wetting myself. I even have never understood why human beings get exhilaration from being scared. yet to me, the scariest 2d in a movie became the only in Carrie (made back in the ‘70’s and based on the Stephen King novel of the comparable call, starring Sissy Spacek as Carrie, the female who trashes her senior promenade), while Carrie’s hand got here out of the grave and grabbed the different woman’s arm. I observed that movie in the theater and actually each and every individual in the movie almost misplaced the potential to respire, which contains me. Even the guy at the back of me – a grown guy – became gasping so no longer worry-free i presumed he rather became going to have a heart attack. It took half-hour for me to kick back down. day after today, I study a evaluation of the movie and, without giving something away, it defined this actual 2d the place the objective audience “levitated quite a few inches from their seats. It rather used that word - levitated. Having considered the movie the nighttime earlier, I knew precisely what that evaluation meant. The hand popping out of the floor became rather, rather, completely unpredicted. And rather, rather frightening. Hannah J Paul

there is no other chilling scenes than this italian gory movie "city of the living dead 1980 by Lucio Fulci".
There is a young man that gets a drill through his head and I mean right through his head you can see the drill as he opens his mouth.
I asked Why did the director do this scene? The special make up effect is really really good, but anyone can explain me ??

The shower scene in "Psycho"
Last scene in "Carrie" when the hand comes out of the grave
"Jaws" - although the shark looked fake at times, it was pretty scary. The music in the movie was fantastic.
