It is a quote from "The Mourning Bride" by William Congreve, written in 1697. The complete quote is, "Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned / Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned."

For the record, this is the same play that also spawned the famous quote, "Music hath charms to soothe a savage breast." Which some people mis-quote as 'savage beast'. But I think breasts can be pretty savage too.

So, in sum, if you run across a scorned woman, try playing some nice music. It's either that or running fast. ( :
