My friend met her husband on the net. They're very happy four years on. I met a few guys when I was single (about five years ago) and though none of them were potential boyfriends, a couple have remained mates. I think it is possible to meet a life long partner on the net. There is a real intimacy online that usually takes years to achieve. You can be yourself with a stranger. I know there are people who reinvent themselves online but if you are lucky enough to have found someone genuine, go for it!!

Yes yes yes. I first met someone a few years. Did not work, we were young, had some fun, but did not work. Went into a chat room about 4 years later, and a guy asked if i wanted to chat.....little did i know that less than 24 hours later would i be meeting him for real, and then after a few weeks of dating would be my boyfriend, we are moving in together in jan. Was a huge risk granted - but ever remember ur mum saying to you when you were 16 and ur first realtionship ended - "Darling, It wasnt love....u will know when it is love"....................well, silly as it may sound.......i felt that feeling, And i havent felt anything as good as the feeling i am still experiencing all this time on. :) He is gorgeous, kind, caring, loving, god..everything good you can think of...Its all about compatibility...something ur not gonna find out unless you give it a shot. :)

Wasn't even a dating site, just met in a good old chat room and hit it off online and then irl.

the interweb has a lot to answer for :)

Not really, but I ended up marrying the friend of a girl I met on the internet, so it kind of did work out. Oh well...

I did and it is going well. I have been with him almost a year now and we have been talking about marriage. We started out as friends on the internet and then went from that to dating. I think it can work out if you find the right person. Good Luck!

my dad met my step mum on the net. they've been happily married for a year now.

the reason it works is because they'd both been through a lot of sh1t before they met (my mum died 5 years ago) and so have supported eachother throughout the ups and downs

I met my husband of four years online. :) We communicated well, have many shared interests, and perhaps most importantly, neither of us were actively seeking a relationship at the time. We were friends for almost two years before even suggesting a casual visit. We got on swimmingly, as you might surmise.

It worked, we are now newlyweds!
Him-Tennessee, me, Wisconsin.

It worked because we had a very time intense phone, chat, and webcam relationship, got to know each other completely, and both felt immediately that it was what was meant to be.Above it all, we have more laughter together than any hundred people do.
(we are both previously divorced.)
