Can you be a cynical optimistic? optimistic cynic? For every thing there is a time. You have to ask yourself "would this be a good situation to be optimistic or cynical". It is best to make this call on the facts of the situation, NOT on how you are feeling about yourself.

When you're upset, you aren't on your right mind. I mean you can be so impulsive and careless. So if you'll be cynical, you won't be taking any risks because you're afraid of anything that might occur. Which can be considered good because you won't be regretting any actions you've done while you were not in your normal state of mind...

When happiness in all people are lies, the more it is needed of you to be optimistic. The species in your sorroundings are putting masks on their faces to hide something. Maybe the pain they are feeling is too unbearable, they have to pretend. In your part, because you are optimistic, you won't have to pretend. Optimistic persons think of happy events; thy are not pretentious. They think of happy future and happy ideas.

I hope I answered your question...TC!

I'm an optimist, and I can tell you that I am much happier than several people I know who are pessimists.

Yes, I'm disappointed when bad things happen, but I don't expect them too. And somehow, things usually work out well for me. Is it my optimism that changes the eventual result, or do those results make me an optimist?

Kind of a chicken and the egg scenario.

I am cynical, and it gets me in a lot of trouble. I think I'd rather be a happy sort, I'm just not sure how to change.
