if you can see your breath can you reasonably assume the temp is 32 degrees or less?

NO ... all that means is that the temperature outside is cooler than your breath. Warm air hits cooler air and creates fog.

No, not necessarily. The temperature is going to be cool, for sure, but if your breath is about what your body temperature is, it would be possible for you to see your breath above 32.
I think it depends on how much humidity is in the air too, because it will cling to the water molecules more and that is what you are seeing.

Nope. I can see my breath at temperatures well above 32 degrees. Go to your local store and stick your head into a refrigerator, temperature 40 degrees. Exhale.

I say if you see your breath it is pretty durn cold and assuming that it is 32 degrees would be sort pointless because that is just a number and what matters how it feels.

No you see your breath when there is enough moisture to condense. The factor is humidity, with the temperature and dew point needing to be within 5 degrees of each other. (dont forget that the air is warmed by your bodyheat and your breath cooled by ambient air as you exhale)

I don't think that is a reliable indicator. I've seen my breath at temperatures above 32.

No...it is not accurate.
The water vapor in your breath can condense visibly above freezing depending on the humidity and particulate matter in the air.

no you can see your breath in temperatures warmer and colder than 32 so that would not be an accurate statement
