The lubricant in the joints is called synovial fluid; it's such an effective lubricant that healthy joints are virtually frictionless.

The bones of the spine are seperated by bursae which are flexible, jelly-filled sacks which aid in making flexible what also must have the property of strength & firmness.

Without bones we would be nothing more than a blob of jelly. Muscles allow us to move those bones. The muscles are connected to bones with tendons and ligaments.
