with any Laptop ... there is usually a very tiny hole where you can pop open the CD-Rom Drive -- use either a sewing needle, or something like a paperclip that you bent open to do this.

OK, you got a serious problem here. First of, take the entire drive out. I guess you know how to do that. Then, check if there's stuff inside, like dust or dirt. Take that out, and try again. Then, if it does not work, try manually removing the CD by dismantling the drive and putting it back together. If it still does not work, your only option is to get a new one. You can ether get one specially designed for your laptop, or, if, as you said, you can't, get an external one, like a USB one or something. If you can't even get that, sorry man-- no way to fix it. Good luck!

Have you tried going into Windows Explorer, then properties and checking the settings for the disk drive? The next thing you can try doing is reinstalling the driver's. It sounds like the payload trigger on your switch might be corrupted. The next thing you might want to check, in Windows Explorer does your disk drive show up in the file tree? If you're not able to see your CD drive in the file tree, Microsoft's auto it program has stopped functioning. Below is a link to repair your auto it program. Good luck!

try removing the drive from the laptop if possible.
you might be able to get a better look at what is possibly jamming the gear which opens
or
do you have a warranty
if so is it still good?
if it is...accidently 'slide'(drop) the laptop of a desk until the drive opens. if it breaks, then talk with the provider about getting a new comp

Try to manually open the drive using an unwound paper clip.
Insert the unwound paper clip into the tiny hole on the drive.
