I'd get a firefly (lightning bug) ..I'd let it fly free each night in my bedroom so I could enjoy it's company as I'm falling asleep. I'd name it sparkle.

I know you're kidding, but I really did bring in a praying mantis egg case inside (bad idea) when I was a kid. I'm partial to spiders. They eat mosquito's & other bugs. Lady bugs are great also because they kill aphids & other destructive insects. Dragonflies also eat mosquitoes. I always wanted a taurantula. They're usually docile, but just the sight of them freaks people out. ( I have a pit bull, also friendly)

A catipillar, because they're pretty. And I'd name it Pretty because it's pretty. But actually, I can't, because they're not bugs...they're lepidopterans.
Or a ladybug, because they're nice. And I'd name her Lady because "lady" is in "ladybug" Wait no, I can't do that either...they're actually beetles.
And a praying-mantis isn't a bug...it's an insect!
So I'd have an Aphid, because they're cute. And I'd name it Aeris, because I think that's a pretty name...especially for an Aphid! And yes, Aphids are bugs!

When I was in grade 8 I collected spiders...it was winter and when I put one outside like my Mom wanted I watched it stick to the ice and die and for some reason I felt sorry for it so then I started putting them in jars and making a fancy home for them with sticks and stuff. I'd crawl up in the attic and find frozen flies in the insulation and bring them down and thaw them out (they were alive) and feed them to the spiders. My first one was named Hermit. Others were Oscar, Black Thing, Harvey and Florence. I did my science fair project on spiders that year and won first prize.
I am now TERRIFIED of spiders because of a bad situation one year with spiders infesting my bedroom in the old trailer I used to have. I'd have to check all through my bed every night before I could go to sleep.

I have Northern Walking Stick insects... no names.. too many of them to name...
why that specific one? its one of the few who is legal were I am and we bought them at an Odd & Unusual livestock aution.. and they had babies
most bugs are illegal to catch and keep as pets.

I think I'd like to have tarantulas. I know they're not actually bugs, but I think it fits the general bill. As to the name - I wouldn't know until I met him/her :-)
