I bought my HP for $700.00 (Can funds) that included tax and a 3 year extended warranty
and it has 300 GB hard drive
and 1 GB RAM
dvd burner (with scriptable)
and a dvd rom
only thing it doesn't have is a 3" floppy drive
it has 6 USB ports (4 at back and 2 up front)
I like what it does so far

Just throwing it out there but my company builds custom computers to fit your budget. We even have flexible payment options. If you are interested you can give email me details about what type of system you are interested in. Such as hard drive space, monitor size, even the color of your computer because we do offer many different styles. Best of luck in your computer search.

Dell offers the best really cheap range, but again it depends on what you want it for.
HP computers are cruddy anything under 1100
But the best computer company by far (Much much much cheaper in sourthern hemispere) but it might be expensive
A laptop would not be good to get a cheap one.

Get a Dell Entertainment PC. They usually cost around that price, and they are pretty good; I have one. They're not exaxtly a supercomputer XPS, but they're not a cheap wimpy Basic PC, either.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16883102664 is a great deal with a decent amount of graphics and a decent video card. You can also see more options at:
