I saw a trailer for The Hobbit on youtube.com, and it looks real enough but I haven't heard anything about this movie, the trailer said it was comming December 19th, 2006, just wanted to know if it was real or not.

Not real. The right to the Hobbit are in the works right now. Rumor has it that Peter Jackson will be doing it.

No it's not. It was cobbled together by a fan from TLOTR and other film footage. However, the rights to 'The Hobbit' have finally been worked out by the studios and now all we have to do is wait for Peter to get on board. He's currently working on The Lovely Bones and Halo.

Nope, the Hobbit is still in very early stages. New Line own the filming rights, but I think it's MGM that own release rights. Peter Jackson may be directing it, he's certainly expressed an interest, but nobody has contacted him as of yet.

no, the hobbit movie wont be comming out that soon. word on the street is that peter jackson has put some of his other projects on hold and is working on pre-production stuff.

the hobit IS being made into a movie. i don't recall seeing anything about a release date though. i don't think anything has progressed to a point of having a trailer ready yet, though.
