Something very similar to that happened to my daughter when she was in seventh or eighth grade. She wrote a very polite letter to the principal and copied it to the teacher who gossiped, explaining what happened, and that she felt the teacher should not have done that. The result was that the teacher apologized. The key here would be for you to be very calm and courteous in your letter and simply explain what happened and that you think it isn't right for the teacher to discuss your personal information. Best of luck with getting it resolved.

First of all, you need to prove that the teacher told the student your grade. Once you have proof, then you need to talk to your principal with your evidence. Truth be told, if the teacher has tenure, you're probably not going to get very far.

Have your parents talk with the school principal and/or administration. If you can find the school or district policy on grades and confidentiality that was violated, quote or attach that to all written correspondence. If you have problems with correcting or reviewing this issue, there are written policies on those procedures as well. If these are not followed, you may have additional grievances to address in writing to school authorities.

I agree with Imaka....stay calm and polite but stand up for yourself. It is not appropriate for a teacher to do that and you did deserve more respect for your privacy. Good luck to you.
