It should act as a deterrent for anyone contemplating a crime, it's not a good or bad thing. I think it should only be carried out if stringent lie detector test have been carried out on the plaintiff and the defendant. These are not totally reliable and the justice system nearly always fails someone, check out the USA penal system, where in some states capital punishement applies and in others it does not. Are Americans right or wrong or are we ? !!

There are many arguements for and against as I'm sure this question will show. I'm not sure which side of the fence I come down on. I believe there are certain cases that could benefit from capital punishment (I'm thinking Ian Huntley, Myra Hindley et al). But, what about those that are wrongly accused and later cleared? That is my main concern and one that history has proved is very probable.

The families and friends of the victims. And in their case I imagine that 95 per cent would vote for capital punishment.

If there is absolutely no doubt that a person murdered another person, intentionally, they planned it...
Wouldn't you think they would deserve to die?
I know that may sound harsh but it sort of makes sense. That the punishment should fit the crime. Then again, how often can we prove that there is absolutely no doubt or false evidence.
Personally though, I think that if someone commits an incredibly awful crime, they should be forever tortured, not left to an eternal sleep.

First of all your picture is really hott!...Capital punishment is a good thing. It gets rid of all the trash the we do NOT need in the world! Some may think it is harsh but an eye for an eye is always a good way to go. You have to think about the family of the victims involved in the crime. i mean if someone shot my mom i would want them to die.

No it is NOT a good thing to kill someone just because that person has killed another person. If you do that, you are no more better than the murderer.
Also capital punishment can only punish their families and loved ones, not the criminal himself, think about it.

Two wrongs may not make a right, but penalizing a murderer by killing that person at least makes equallity.
I believe that whatever someone does should be done to them (to an extent). In terms of altering someone else's life in any aspect, you should be held responsible and you should have consequences equal to your actions.
For someone who rapes someone else, have someone rape them. For someone who shoots someone, shoot them.
In terms of drug abuse I think we have a pretty good system, flawed of course, far from perfect, but I have no complaints. The three strike system should not be used for people who have used drugs without harming others.
If you have the fear of being shot before shooting someone, I really doubt you will do it. Same goes with any scenario regarding altering another human being's life.

Providing the evidence is one hundred percent, and today there is no reason why it shouldn't be, then we should execute the b@st@rds within one month of being found guilty. I strongly object to my taxes being used to keep these scum in better conditions than most people. It should be put to a national referendum and let the people decide, that would frighten the politicians. What we need is a revolution

I do.
I think its a good thing in case of people who rape and murder children(and in some cases even a particularly brutal rape/murder of a woman would qualify)
I think its good in case of serial killers.
Some people are beyond the stage of reform. They would be a menace to society no matter what. So, its best to Kill them and make the world a safer place for the children, especially.
