Networking?

CCNA is easy and widely recognised, CCNP after that is a fun challenge that will give you a very strong knowledge of networks, and a good footing for moving on to more specific areas.

Speaking as a CNE (Certified Netware Engineer) I went the wrong way and should have gone MCSE. I am employed as a Network Engineer and am working with a Microsoft Network. The requirement to work where I do now, is that you are an MCSE with work on your CCNA. Any Netware certification will prepare you for Networking. You really should go for the A+ certification and then the N+ from CompTIA. Together they will get your foot in the door. I am just getting ready to sit my CCNA cert test and if you haven't been working with switches and routers it is harder than they tell you..

Forget the IT hardware support stuff as those certs are losing their value. The market is flooded with MCSE's, CCNA's, CNE/A's and the like. With security being the hot topic nowadays go for something such as a CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
