What are the steps I have to go through? They aren't poems, just random thoughts. They do have a beat, but they don't rhyme like poems normally do.

Poetry.com is a scam.

It depends on the type of poetry. Many web 'zines are always looking for content and, while they can't pay, they are always open to submissions in their chosen field. Make sure the 'zine takes poetry before submitting. While these don't often pay, they can give you some exposure and help build up a CV.

However, before sending anything in, make sure at least one other person reads it. There are Yahoo! groups for this sort of thing, or you can ask your friends or family to have a little look. It's really hard, to know that someone you know is reading your work, but it's always worth it. Make sure to clean them up properly before you send them off, though, and to get rid of all grammatical and spelling errors before sending them off, unless this is part of your style.

Good luck, and I hope this helps.
