I'm a senior in high school. I feel pathetic for asking this. I feel like this is so petty but anyway for about 2 years I sat with this girl and her other friend at lunch. We had been pretty good friends before this, hadn;t sat at lunch. I don't feel like we're any closer. Anyway she hangs around with a lot of people I don't really know and that are pretty indifferent to me. I kind of want to sit with this other group of friends who've I wanted to sit with for years but haven't because I either felt held back by others or wasn't confident enough. She doesn't seem to mind if I'm not with them at lunch and I figure I could just stop by quick and then sit with the other for the rest of the time. And still be friends with both. Other part of my question is if it is arrogant to just go and ask if you can sit with people. (DON"T ANSWER YET GOING TO PUT THE REST IN ADD DETAILS)

I've known them all for quite a while and I like them and they seem to like me. Most people like me at least as an acquaintance. I just have more in common with them and working on a project with them I realized how fun they are and how much time I've missed out on with them. I feel like it;s my senior year and I've been held back by people a lot and I should just enjoy my senior year but I also don't want to be an a*shole. Anyway what do you think I should do.

Dude, you are a senior, its time you realize no one picks your friends but you. You hang out with who you want, it doesn't matter... you won't see half or more of them after this year anyways.

Hey, your making new friends, you control your own life, how can it be arrogant? Your not in a deep hole and you shouldn't fell like you are. if you think sitting at both tabels during lunch is whats best then go for it.

(Ill come back to this question once more details is up)

Back! If you know them well then i dont see your problem. I mean, you are friends, why do you have so stick with them? Why cant they stick with you for a change? You know, try like... like... combining the group or something.

Well, if her friends are indifferent to you & she doesnt seem to mind you NOT sitting with her.... I would say move on. Yes, you can be friends with both groups. Remember high school is all about finding yourself. People grow up & alot of times grow apart. Embrace this opportunity. Become friends with this other group.

Its not arrogant to ask people if you can sit with them, but remember that if you dont already know these people they could
shy away from you and high school is already tough.
Dont appear desperate..... find a way to become friends with these people & get yourself invited to join them for lunch.

Sometimes just stopping by to say hi & then moving on....
makes you appear that you have someplace else to be and
then you dont appear desperate.

Sorry, I answered, but I didnt see anything in additional details, but from you wrote....these are my thoughts.
Good luck.

Oh, lordy, we should all have problems as big as this one. We don't need anymore details. Sit wherever you like. Sit with different kids at different times. In the grand scheme of things, do you think it matters even the least bit?

I think you could sit with one group sometimes, and the other group sometimes -- like every other day or something like that. No group is better that the other, right? Groups/cliques are always difficult. Don't spread yourself too thin.
