Having a party - well "gathering" of friends this Saturday night. Any suggestions of what film (dvd) i could get out to watch (it's for my 17th birthday celebrations).
I'm thinking a chick flick - but a comedy is also good - anything feelgood really...
I was thinking something which was recently released (on dvd in the UK) - but if no one can think of anything - I'm open to suggestions of older films (you know like classics such as the original Pink Panther film =D ) I dunno - just throw some ideas my way please.
Cheers

I'm going to agree with a few people. Love Actually is a great feel good movie. Mean Girls is a great girl-party movie. Cars is not a girly movie, but it was very funny and so touching at the end that I was tearing up. I also love Moulin Rouge, Chicago, or anything with Julie Andrews (she is my goddess). And, by the way, I adore the original Pink Panther movies. If you haven't seen them all (there are five I think) go rent them!

If you're going with classics, my favorite is The Shop Around the Corner. Definitely go with the Jimmy Stewart one, the remakes are just lame. Arsenic and Old Lace is a fun one. If you go with a Pink Panther movie, definitely get the Return of the Pink Panther, the one with Christopher Plummer, it's so much better than the first one. If you want a really feel good ending, Quick Change. I love that!

Here's a unique idea. What about and old silent film? Charlie Chaplin was great and the movie The Gold Rush is a true classic. He was a timeless performer and his movies are very entertaining. It would definitely be different, but might be worth a try.

Try "Best in Show", a comedy (fake documentary)

From Yahoo! Movie descriptions:
A "behind the scenes" look into the highly competive and cut-throat world of dog-shows through the eyes of a group of ruthless dog owners including: yuppies Hamilton and Meg Swan and their neurotic weimaraner "Beatrice"; mild-mannered menswear salesman Gerry and Cookie Fleck, whose norwich terrier's registered name is "Champion Thank You Neil Sedaka"; fly-fishing shop owner Harlan Pepper and his beloved bloodhound "Hubert"; New Yorker Scott Donlon and his longtime hairdresser partner, Stefan Vanderhoof, who anticipate the crown for their pampered shih tzus "Miss Agnes" and "Tyrone"; and the champion poodle "Rhapsody in White" who might just snare the title for the third year running.

I was surprised by how much i liked Dirty Dancing 2, soundtrack is also good. Classic-wise, Breakfast at Tiffany's is great but not many laughs, or Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
