I have been offered to buy a like new 5hp Samborn Black Max single stage 80 gal air compressor, a pwr craft 200 amp welder (has some age on it but in great shape), a cutting torch set up with the torches, bottles, stand, regulators and many extras,a Craftsman contractor's series 10" radial arm saw (like new), a 1/2 hp Baldor grinder with stand, a poulan 16" chainsaw with case. The gentleman wants $900 for all of this. I think it's a good deal, but have limited experience in tools, What do you think?

The rule of thumb for used equipment in good condition is that the value is less than 50% of new. I would put the compressor at $700 new, the welder $200, torch $200, saw $350, grinder $50, chainsaw $175. That would make my estimate new at about $1800. At $900 for the lot, you would be getting a fair price. If anything of that lot is in exceptional condition, the bargain would be more pronounced.

The price is good, however, is it a serviceable item. If it needs repair in the future, who can perform that service. As for the 'Craftsman" radial saw, it's made in China, I'm welling to bet. Remember what we say........."Let the buyer beware". Is the buzz-box a 220v service? If so, do you have a 220v outlet other then a clothe dryer, or will someone have to made a service call to install? The Poulan chain saw is a good light duty unit, but if it's going to get anything close to heavy moderate use it won't hold up. PowerKraft(?), sounds like something Montgomery Wards would have sold, and we know where they went.
Seems like a fair deal if you have use for all that hardware. If it's going to set around then it's a waste of money better spent.

LMAO Naturally, since I like gadgets, I played around with it some more, got some things figured out, got various applications loaded and running, among those are midpSSH, jMirc, Google Talk, Google Maps, Blackberry Messenger, Mobipocket Reader, and a few others. Great. Fun toy, if it weren't for my plausible deniability argument gone down the crapper. So finally, I emerged from my basement and put the (now) Dingleberry on the shelf with our phones to charge. What's that? No signal? Hah! I win! No signal on the first floor, only in the basement, and gooing down the stairs to turn the Blackberry into a Dingleberry takes me about 6.4 seconds, so I win! So, the Blackberry can stay, the pain in the *** is not as big as it could have been. An please, T-Mobile, don't ever build a tower out here.
