I sometimes think that maybe it won't be such a bad idea to bring back the TV censors they had back in the early days of television. It seems a lot of people in the "entertainment" industry keep pushing the envelope just to see how far they can go and what they can get away with... And then when there is not a huge outcry, their form of "entertainment" becomes the new "norm," and the cycle starts all over again...

I think that MTV tends to portray girls in a very bad light. Most of the girls on there are either gyrating in videos in skimpy outfits, acting like total stuck up snobs on shows, or trying to date guys they've never met. I think that the only positive female role model on MTV was Daria, and she was a cartoon!

The female artists featured are selling themselves as a commodity and taking the road of sex sells. There are a few who do not do that such as Avril Lavigne and Amy Lee of Evanescence but for every one of them there is a ton of other ones who do the opposite. Not only that you have all the dancers in videos who wear skimpy clothing who are paraded around like jewelery and cars...objects to be admired and played with till something better comes along. That is not mentioning women being referred to as "bitc*es and ho's"

Women degrade themselves by wearing next to nothing and TV itself portrays what "they" think the real women looks like.

the women chose to degrade themselves. MTV just gave them the outlet to do so. No one is forcing them to do this

I see your arguments yet in case you look at historic previous and browse the Qu'ran then you truthfully would replace your concepts. The Qu'ran tells females and adult males to costume modestly yet does not say they maximum conceal their bodys and faces through wearing a veil. The Hijab isn't Islamic, in case you look at historic carvings from earlier Islam you'll see the ladies are lined on their head with a veil, this replaced into basically a convention the Hijab replaced into followed through the folk contained in the middle east even even as the Islam faith began to spread. females back in that factor who were Muslim had extra rights than human beings up till the 1700s could even imagine of, proper to go back to a call on husband, vote, personal property, develop into leaders etc... in case you dont have self assurance they could develop into leaders look at historic previous, area of the reason the Islamic faith split replaced into because of the decision of who lead them, one crew needed Mohammed's(peace be upon him) relative who replaced right into a lady to be the chief, till the rival crew killed off the family individuals line. Islam does not degrade females, it not in any respect has the folk who're Muslim and characteristic a twisted view of the holy Qu'ran and cant distinguish between custom and faith are those that degrade females. Even contained in the West for most centuries it replaced right into a custom for females to be veiled, even in historic rome and greece, the international locations contained in the middle a lengthy time period also supported it, even till the 1800s females were meant to be veiled indirectly. it isn't really an Islamic conception, its not even definativly an Islamic conception, its basically a custom that would both be observed or not.
