there is a big purple line through my tv i was thinking was the tv being gaussed, but when i got a degaussing coil, it didnt work. i was wondering if anyone knew what it was that is causing this line to be there and how to fix it. is the degaussing coil supposed to wrok immediately? thanks

its a big screen. kinda old, but still pretty good.

Sounds like the cathrode ray unit in the picture-tube has bitten the dust. This controls your color mix inside your picture tube. You may want to consider buying a new T.V. ( Prices are very affordable nowaday's for a flat screen, try WAL-MART )

Is it in the middle of your screen, along the bottom the top?
Could be your VERTICLE CHIP.

is it expensive?? otherwise its cheaper just to buy a new one
