First, the US debt is an aggregate of a bunch of individual debt contracts (treasury bonds, bills, and notes). So there is not one asset or instrument that represents the US debt, so your question is not really sensible. However, if talking about aggregates, the various total ASSETS of the US are worth far, far, more than the debt. In other words, the US has a positive net worth of many tens of trillions of dollars.
