I think the best bet would be for him to learn about how capitialism works. If he has say $20 to invest, get him to buy some plant starters and some seeds. If he starts some plants indoors, by spring he will have a product that virtually every homeowner buys each year, flowers.

Your son can learn about growing and taking care of things while making some money from his own investment.

If he's 14, have him babysit figure this out...

On avg (depending on community) about 8$ an hour, only 8 hours a week about 21 weeks until SPRING (more until summer)
8x8=64 (hours times pay)

$64 (a week) times twenty one is 1344

Your son will have 1344 by spring

HE can start delivering news papers my son did that and got almost $120 cad for delivering thirty papers everyday..
he can also shovel snow or mow lawns....

He could pick up dog sh*t. No one wants to do it and it is not hard physical labor like shoveling snow or mowing lawns.

He can rake leaves, Shove snow, deliver newspapers, sell things he doesn't need, or do yard work for others.

Newspaper route, yard work for the neighbors, errands for senior citizens (make sure they know he wants pay for it)
