If you get a message (popup or error) saying "EXE" I'm not sure that I can help you. When try to open the downloaded file unsuccessfully there may be a problem:

.exe is a Windows file extension short for "executable". Mac users, like yourself, will not be able to open it on your computer unless you are running Windows as a parallel OS, but that's probably not the case with you.
---
When you have downloaded the file, go to where the file is located and check the file extension. If it is in fact .exe then, to be frank with you, there really is no hope. This means the file can only be executed on a computer running Windows. Check around on the internet for Mac-compatible demos or games if this is the case. Hope this helps and have a great day!
