Guns N' Roses was founded in Los Angeles in March, 1985 by singer Axl Rose and guitarist Tracii Guns, as an informal merger of Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns, both of which Axl Rose had been a member of, and the second of which Tracii Guns had been a member of.

the name Guns n' Roses came from LA Guns and Hollywood Rose, two bands that Axl and Izzy (? I think ?) had been in. Now, Slash, Duff, and Matt are in Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots.

you mean what bands were the members in before??cause gnr is jsut ONE band...
i only know the old GNR
Izzy Stradlin and Axl Rose were in Hollywood Rose with Traci Guns from L.A. Guns and Slash and Steve just auditioned and Slash knew Duff who was in a band that had something to do with farts...that's how he adopted the name Duff..they all formed GNr
