Call in and say that you are having a problem with your eyes.
When your boss asks what it is say "I just can't see myself coming in to work"! Hah hah hah!!!

I use gastro (virus that causes vomiting and is contagious) as an excuse. Trust me, people do NOT want someone coming in to work and passing that bug around - it's horrible when you've actually got it. It's only good for a once-off though, you'll have to think of something else next time ; )

If you have a male boss and won't be embarrassed to do so, say you're having some female issues. He will not ask any further questions. Trust me.
If that's a little too bold for you, just say you have a family emergency. But it's always better to be prepared with details in case the boss asks, so I would have a story made up.

You're at the hospital because you've been throwing up violently all night and you want to make sure it's nothing serious-but tell them that you may have eaten something bad.

If you just need a day to rest, arrange in advance for a personal day or use a vacation day. Use of sick time is for when you are actually sick. If you use sick days when you aren't sick, they aren't available when you do get sick.

"I must have eaten some bad food. I ate at Arby's, and that's all I can remember."
