For easy to use P2P, Soulseek is the best. No IP address logging, no personal info divulged to sign on, all servers are off US soil, and people there take pride in thier collections, usually having full albums available to download at once into its own folder, so you begin building a music collection already sorted into albums. No spyware, no ads. No joke.

Limewire/Bearshare and any other system on the Gnutella or Kazaa netorks are filled with bogus files, viruses, and crap you don't want. I'm not trashing Gnutella client P2P programs. I'd just encourage *anybody* who uses P2P systems to try soulseek, or for anybody getting into them for the first time, just start there. Yoou'll be glad you did.
Its especially great for finding pre-leaked albums, independent music, obscure bands, and UK/English music.
Tip: It takes a while to get accustomed to properly using Soulseek for maximum efficiency and getting established, but I'm telling you, I was on Napster when that came out, I was an Audiogalaxy junkie, and I've tried a *lot* of P2P systems. Soulseek is by far superior to them all, and for this to exist almost under the radar of most folks in the US, this is saying something.
Tip 2: Whatever their newest Beta version is, avoid it. Use the newest solid release of the application, and pay attention for when that updates. As new non-beta versions come out, you should download install them. It leaves all settings/files/etc alone, and takes just a few seconds. They continuallly improve the program, and must be the most benevolent people ever, seeing as how they have no revenue source other then utterly optimal donations.
All in all, Soulseek, for P2P file sharing, is the best thing going. There are no free websites where you just got to a site and download right from your browser to your hard drive, with no charge and no limits. For something like that you'll have to get connected with a private FTP file sharing group, and that still technically isn't a website if you're doing it.

I go here and it really actually works. It's made by other users, you DON'T have to pay to download and usually the songs are quite modern. Click around on people's playlists and you'll get lists of songs. It will work, I guarantee it!
I don't suggest limewire (and other P-2-P sites) because basically you have to download it first and then its a risk to your PC because you basically are allowing people into your PC and there are viruses galore in those things. Call me paranoid but I don't trust it.

limewire basic....ayres has a free shareware program as well...just watch where you have the files placed and which ones you are willing to share with others...follow all directions carefully
